Malami Hamzavi is a closed sufi congregation not a religios sect which appeared in Khorasan, Iran in the period of Sassanids in 8th century AD. The word “ Malami “ means “ condemned or infamy” so the lovers of this congregation hide themselves during their lives. Malamiyye is advocating religious currents of thought today's modern style of humor which have been experienced in the world centuries before and is the philosophy & understanding position at the same time. It used to keep secular understanding of the religious attitude of Islam in past that is adopted at present time. The Malamiyye congregation does not have any rituals or ceremonies so it is definetly seperated from the religious sects. The lovers of Malamiyye had to fight against to superstitions, rituals and rules both in Seljuks and Ottoman periods. One of the famous Malami knowledgeable scholars named Niyaz-i Mısri made a struggle openly opposing to the school of Kadızade duirng the Ottoman empire as punishment therefore he was exiled to island of Limni and he died there. The Malami lovers accept sufism as the inner portion & the depth of Islam and they belive acceppting the existence & and the oneness of Allah always and everywhere is enogh to be a Muslim believer although mature man keeps himself avoding from the sins. According to them, Sufism is not a philosophical school of emerged in later centuries of Islamic history but it is a a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered the essence of Islam. Malamiyye, unlike the founders of religious orders and congregations , known that it did not have afounder and it is not a group of people known by the name but understanding the purpose of creation and seeking the humanity. They call their trainers as “ Mürşid “ but they don’t hope their trainers are able to create the miracles or have supernatural powers. Malami trainers only show the path which takes a Malami to Allah and the Malami lover is responsible for everything he does during his life son nobody can enter between Allah and Malami lover therefore they refuse all the ceremoniesi rituals, rules and sheiks to reach Allah. Malami lovers take place in all sorts of people but they prefer to hide themselves among the people that the closest friends of them even don’t know they are Malami. Their identities are expressed on their gravestone inscriptions or on their wills. The reason why they hide themselves is not to lose contact with Allah by attending the sects &lodges with rituals and ceremonies. Malami lovers do not look for any place or any time for ceremonies or conversation and they commemorate Allah at every time or every where beacuse the presence of Allah surrounds everywhere. They have to attend only the prays in the mosques as the compulsory order of Allah but they do not attend the meetings or conservations with the people. One of the famous scholars in Turkey who was accepted as the authority of islamic sects named Abdulbaki Golpınarlı was a Malami lover. Malami gravestones can be found in all Ottoman cemeteries and graveyards with simple and unpretentious. If you see a simple and unpretentious gravestone in a cemetry or in a graveyard with only the written inscription, that is certainly a Malami.
